iLove iTunes
Yesterday I was actually going to buy a CD. I know what you’re thinking, but something just came over me. Anyway, I’ve heard great things about the new Delirious? Cd, Now Is The Time: Live at Willowcreek. So I go to our local Family Christian Store to pick up a copy. When I get there I find out that not only do they not have it, but they’ve never heard of it, and they can’t order it. I mean, as far as Christian music goes, Delirious? has some serious cred…They opened for U2 in Europe for cryin’ out loud! So I get the number of another local Christian bookstore…Guess what? Never heard of it, can’t order it. So I come home empty handed. Then I jump on my computer, pull up iTunes, and I have the album like ten seconds later…

I like the iTunes Store for the convenience, but I hate the fact that most of their tracks are tied to iTunes using their proprietary DRM. Let’s say for some reason you want a Zune? You have to either use some “illegal” program to strip the encryption, or burn a CD and then re-rip that to an MP3, which will severely degrade the quality. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve used it in a bind, but I just don’t like the idea that what I buy is tied to a particular player or piece of software. However, Apples does now offer some tracks without the DRM/encryption, though they typically cost a bit more. Still, glad you got your music.

Agreed…I should have mentioned that i did buy the DRM/encryption free version of the album…I think it was only like an extra dollar.

Good choice. They need to know that is what people want.
