Coffe Table [re]Mix

Kristin and I have needed a coffee table for quite some time. This weekend we went antiquing with my family (my mom’s side of the family loves antiquing). We were at Second Hand Rose in Lakeland when Kristin spotted the “coffee table of her dreams”. I have to admit, I didn’t immediately see the potential, but she quickly sold me on it. We took it home for $24.00. We decided to go ahead and refurbish it on Sunday, while my mom and grandparents were at a wedding. Here are the three stages of restoration.

STAGE 1 - Purchase Condition

STAGE 2 - Totally Sanded

STAGE 3 - Complete

Total cost including restoration: $45 .00

Having been there to see the before and after, you two really have the “gift of restoration.” You did an awesome job. It was great to spend time at the Rippyplex we had a grat time. You guys are missed!

The last picture doesn’t even really do it justice. For some reason the flash/glare made it look like there were some “spots” on it.

Hopefully we will have the gift of spiritual restoration too.
On a another note, I love love love our new (old)coffee table and it has given me spiritual vision to see the dirty souls of people and how Jesus refinishes our dirty chipped off vanier and makes us more beautiful than before.

That is very deep Kristin. I must say that my wife has shown me the miracle of antique restoration. I was a skeptic at first, but now we a few new/old pieces in our home.

I’m not gonna lie… I’m gonna miss putting my beverage on the black trunk. Maybe you can pull it out whenever I’m over…

    What a lame comment Burns.

    Chris,

Interesting political blog. I pretty much disagree with 95% of it, but it’s interesting. I think sometimes Christians confused Christ’s calls for charity, generosity, taking care of people by individuals and the church with a “Biblical mandate” for the civil government to forcibly confiscate my earnings and redistribute it to others. Trust me, I am all for taking care of the truly needy and believe 100% in charity - but I also believe that those characteristics and teachings of Christ were directed at individuals and at the Spiritual body - not at government. The government is not charitable when it “helps” people through social programs, etc. I mean, if I walk up to you with a gun, take your wallet and then give the contents of YOUR wallet to a homeless guy or a needy family, does that make me charitable? NO. That makes me a thief who thinks I know what is the best use of your money. It’s easy to be charitable when it’s NOT YOUR MONEY. That’s why it is so easy for the government to be so “charitable” - it isn’t their money. They simply took it from someone else.

By the way, Chris, I am going to go live with my own political blog soon. http://www.fightforliberty.com

I’ve got a test site up now. I’ll shoot you the link when I get home. The content is not up-to-date, as I’ve been working on the back-end of the site, etc, but you can get an idea of what it will be once it goes live. :)

  • Chris Says:

Awesome idea Zack, I am definitely not agreeing with everything on any one page, and definitely agree with your view on charity. I just like the idea of open dialogue with other ideals.

  • Zack Rippy Says:

Agreed. I love a good debate with someone who actually knows their opinion. There’s a guy at work who is just ridiculously liberal - but not like a wacko or anything. He and I have some great discussions. I’ve even “won him over” on a couple things - but he definitely knows why he believes what he believes, which is refreshing. :)
