“Fall” Tree
Southeastern has placed a “Fall Tree” in the center of the new cafeteria. However, this “fall tree” is, in fact, simply a Christmas tree with fall decorations on it. I am 100% opposed to decorating too early for any holiday, especially Christmas. I love Christmas. I cherish Christmas. Growing up my home was a varitable winter wonderland at Christmas time. That said, it is a season to be celebrated in the right time. Now, Southeastern vehemently denies that this is a Christmas tree, maintaining that the fall decorations make it a “fall tree”. Southeastern says fall tree, I say fall treason.
I have chosen to shun this “fall tree” by averting my gaze until mid-November. Mid-November is the appropriate time to appreciate and unveil Christmas decorations, and I refuse to look at the tree until then. I implore you, Southeastern…Avert your gaze.

What’s next for SEU– Thanksgiving music? Or how about an Easter tree, with a friggin Cadbury bunny on top?

Hehe! I agree! I don’t go to Southeastern, but I will avert my gaze from the southeast in general. (This is actually where Lakeland is in proportion to Spring Hill, not just a clever thought–and, yes, I did have to google a central Florida map to find that out, sadly). I wrote a similar blog last October entitled “Fight for your right to be thankful.” check it out at http://www.at-whits-end.blogspot.com. Yes, this was a shameless ploy to send people to my blog =D.

That is not right at all.
The week of Thanksgiving is when Christmas decore, music, etc become appropriate. That is when the “except where Genre=Christmas” rule will be removed from my master iTunes playlist and when the Christmas DVD’s will come out of hibernation.
Until then, anything Christmas is just out of place.
I’ve always hated this “early Christmas” garbage. I swear, at the current pace, we’ll be hearing Christmas carols the week after July 4th and stores will be telling us to get prepared for “The Season.”
I’m with you.

I think that there should be dates posted to when each seasonal decorations should be displayed. Like white shoes after labor day….Everyone knows that is a no no! ~ Kriztin

Two weeks ago I was at Dillard’s shopping for new shoes, and they have an entire Christmas section already. Keep in mind that this was still September.
Also, Ashley and I were at Wal-Mart in August and they had a Christmas section (in August!).
Sidenote- It was 107 degrees Farenheit.

I suggest you show your college what a Fall Tree looks like after it has indeed “Fell”!
