As many of you know, I used to be extremely anti-coffee. Then Kristin started working at Starbucks. Ever since she started working there drinking a grande caramel frappuccino (double blended) has become part of my daily diet. Fellow Starbucker’s will know that the frappuccino’s are topped with a luscious homemade whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel. One of my favorite parts of drinking the beverage is when it gets toward the bottom and I begin to get some whip in the straw along with the frap. So the other day I came up with a new term slash way to drink fraps.
As you know, Starbucks has a language of it’s own. I believe I should be able to follow up my drink order with the term “layer it!” That means I want an extra layer of whip half way through. Not following me? I took the liberty of drawing a diagram. Also, I think I should mention that Kristin doesn’t think this is a good idea. What do you think?
Here’s the new and improved “Grande caramel frappuccino, double blended, layer it!”
Coffee, Starbucks

I don’t think that the middle layer of whip could support the weight of the upper Frap layer.
Just take out the frap altogether and get a venti whip and drizzle!
Trust Kristen, it’s her job to know these things!

Shaun - I have to disagree. Two scenarios:
1. The whip is homemade and is made with heavy whipping cream. You may be surprised by it’s strength.
2. Let’s say the cream does just get mixed into the center of the beverage. The same desired sensation will occur.

Anything with extra whip cream sounds good to me!
July 28th, 2008 at 10:23 pm
That sounded a bit dirty, my bad.
July 28th, 2008 at 10:42 pm
I tend to think the middle layer of whip cream will not be as tasty as the final layer and it may diminish the enjoyment of the drink at the end!
July 28th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
By the way the drawing is amazing was this created in paint?
July 28th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
Beth - you’re wrong about the drink.
The picture was created in Keynote.
It took me an hour.
July 28th, 2008 at 10:49 pm
Listen here all of you.
Anything Jordan Rippy says is practically Canon (him and brandon watts). Therefore I will believe what he says about this drink.
I believe it will be good… nay, even Tastetacular!
I will begin to order this drink daily and with pride knowing my fearless leader said so.
To the ends of the earth for Jordan.
July 28th, 2008 at 10:52 pm
Ah michael…Why didn’t I think to add a tastetacular reference?
For those of you who don’t recall I made up the word tastetacular to describe things that are beyond tasty and more than spectacular!
Click here for more tastetacular action!

I hate coffee… And I kind of agree with beth though… It might diminish the enjoyment of the finale of whipped cream. And in the end it might not be as good… But like I said. I hate coffee!
July 28th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
Let me correct Jordan. (Clearing the throat) I said “that doesn’t sound good to me.” Many who know me are aware that I DO like rich desserts. In this case… it is possible that the statement “too much of a good thing” is accurate.
Thank you Shaun for your acknowledgments in reference to my Starbucks wealth of knowledge. They don’t call me Barista for nothing. I also have several Pins in my cap to show my hard work & dedication to my beloved Bucks’.
Beth, I told Jordan Paint would have done a better job in creating his frap. I am sure this is not over…sigh ~Kristin

What the heck is keynote?
July 28th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
The Mac version of PowerPoint. I have a talent.
July 28th, 2008 at 11:11 pm
I’ll have a Venti please.

To begin:
- Burns, what a douche. Everything would be much better if you would go back to pandering your crummy blog with the “money vs. problems graph” and quit brown nosing those who actually take pride in their name being broadcast across the World Wide Web. I love the fact that kids in India even have the ability to laugh at you through your crummy website.
- Kristin, you are a Barista! But do not let your excessive amount of “flair” on your hat blind your mind’s eye to the possibility that creativity may lie beyond the Espresso machine.
- Jordan, keep the faith. I too believe that, given enough time and will power, heavy cream whipped cream would possess the structural fortitude and wherewithal to hold and maintain the approximate weight of another layer of frappuchino delight. While caramel is not exactly my cup of tea (I actually do prefer a cup of tea) it is still a delightful topping that I willingly engage in twice a year.
- P.S. Good to hear from ya Burns.

I’m gonna say that it is a marvelous idea. It’s boring just to order the “stock” coffee. Would you just order a “stock” corvette or bmw? No. It’s the same with starbucks. If you get stock coffee, you might as well go to dunkin donuts.
July 29th, 2008 at 2:58 am
If anyone agrees with Chris(t) that Burns can be a douche bag, you should join the event, cause there actually is one…
July 29th, 2008 at 8:31 am
first of all… a on the painting. i am so incredibly astonished right now. second of all… i don’t agree with anyone who is tearing down mr. i want my drink different. come on, people! we all do it at one point or another. no pickles on my #1 from chick fil a, no beans on my burrito from moes… truly, special orders all fall into the same category and j rip, i commend you for doing things your way.
July 29th, 2008 at 8:32 am
that was supposed to be “a plus”, but my plus sign fell off somewhere!
July 29th, 2008 at 9:43 am
Jordan,
What is the record for most comments on any given post and what was the post concerning?
July 29th, 2008 at 9:47 am
I would almost want to “sandwich it” by having the whip/drizzle layer on the bottom and top… with the frap in the middle….
also, the correct term would be “Starbuck’sers,” I believe, not “Starbucker’s”
although honestly, better than both of those is Starbuckaroos.
“I’m a Starbuckaroo, are YOU?”
July 29th, 2008 at 12:19 pm
Chris,
The most comments probably was on the post where Jordan recommended that amazing Marty Sampson CD.
It was 30.
July 29th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
LOL
July 29th, 2008 at 12:41 pm
Maybe Marty Sampson ordered this while recording that cd. Inspiration?
I kid! I kid!
July 29th, 2008 at 2:55 pm
What does double blended get ya? Never heard of that special order. I do think your layered idea is great. I always like my caramel sundaes at McD’s to have a layer of caramel in the middle. By the way, as a former Outback employee, did you know you can order your cheese fries layered too? They will put the cheese all in between the fries instead of just one top. (Are cheese fries so 90s? I know I haven’t had any in years myself.:)
July 29th, 2008 at 3:12 pm
Cheese fries transcend time.
Double blended means that they blend it twice…Basically it makes it wetter. I like mine to be wetter and not so thick and milk-shake like.
July 29th, 2008 at 3:17 pm
Cheese fries are not 90’s.
They are timeless.
They are awesome.
Layered cheeses fries are even more awesome.
That’s how we always get them.
July 29th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
Layered Cheese Fries - why am I just now learning this??? Cheese Fries are timeless; nothing 90’s about them. As for the grande caramel frap…not so much my thing. But I sure might like to “layer” some heavy whip in my hot chocolate or chai tea. “Layer it” is going places - I see it now.
July 29th, 2008 at 6:44 pm
Ok. Kristin… as a fellow Barista, I feel obligated to comment.
Jordan, did Kristin tell you that you can just get the whip blended into the drink? Just have them put it in before they blend it!! It’s like that delicious blend of whipped cream and frappuccino in EVERY SINGLE SIP! Dream come true, right?!
Just don’t call it a “frapp”. lol.
(I love my Rippys!)
July 29th, 2008 at 7:01 pm
I think you’re on to something. My next Triple Venti Mocha WILL BE LAYERED! Have it your way… oh no, that’s someone else.
July 29th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
wow
July 29th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
Congratulations to Kaley for making the 31st comment. That officially makes this post the most commented on post in jordanrippy.com history!
For her accomplishment, Kaley wins an all-expense paid (by her) trip to visit Kristin and I in Sarasota!
Congratulations, Kaley - Let us know when you’re coming.

I have important information concerning the 31st comment. It was actually Tammie Hayden.
July 31st, 2008 at 4:39 pm
Beth Marsh - I don’t want whip in every sip. I just want layers. Try not to think you know what I want all the time.
Reliable source - Sounds like Tammie has won an all expense paid (by her) trip to Sarasota!!!

good point Jordan….
That’s MY bad. I should have been listening…not helping. I’ll work on that.

[…] who had the privilege of making the very first “grande caramel frappuccino double blended - Layer It!” Coffee, […]
August 5th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
Well this gets more hilarious as time goes on. It’s almost a Seinfield episode! So that EVERYONE knows, I had the personal privilege of making the first grande, double-blended, layered caramel frappuccino. However, I promise to make the next one look a little nicer. Just a note on the amazing structure of whipped cream, don’t get your hopes up too much. I have seen the whip do some funky things. Maybe next time the whip should be added to the drink before it goes to the blender. That way it makes it all the way through the drink.
