That’s right, this week’s Sacred vs. Secular is John Tesh vs. Elton John. I hate to put you guys in this position. This will truly be a “lesser of two evils” vote.

tesh elton

On the sacred side we have John Tesh. Singer/songwriter/composer/radio personality. His most recent album “John Tesh: Live at Red Rocks” features tear-jerking re-re-re-re-mixes of Christian classics such as, “Draw me Close”, “Trading my Sorrows”, and “Breathe”. You may be thinking, “Wow, it’s time for Tesh to come out with some new material”, but the Tesh is already one step behind you…This is his new material. That’s right. The way Tesh sees it, why should he have to labor over writing new material when the early nineties nailed the classic tunes mentioned above.

On the secular side we have the rocket man himself, Elton John. Elton is remembered for classics such as, “Candle in the Wind”, “Crockadile Rock”, and “Rocket Man”. The King of Chords brings his own pizazz to any tune with outrageous wardrobe and creepy silly lyrics. Vote it up people.

This week’s Sacred vs. Secular examines the lives of two pre-teen blonds with cartoon counterparts. On the sacred side we have McGee and Me. A show that features Nick, a young suburban boy who faces moral quandary’s concerning honesty and integrity. Whenever Nick finds himself in a moral dilemma out comes McGee, his cartoon conscious. Nick often disregards McGee’s advice and is forced to learn morality the hard way.

On the secular side we have Lizzie McGuire, a self-conscious middle schooler who deals with the issues every normal teenager faces. McGuire’s thoughts are are played out by her cartoon “twin” barring the same name.

You guys know what to do. Vote for the “Mc-G” that has most affected you. Sacred or Secular? The choice is yours!

I’m introducing a weekly series of posts called Sacred vs. Secular. These posts will be similar to my post about Carmen vs. Rocky. Anyway, today’s Sacred vs. Secular is Testamints vs. Mentos.

mnts

As we all know, Mentos is the fresh maker. But you may not know a lot about the Christian way to freshen…Testamints. Testamints are the Christian answer to bad breath. That’s right. Mentos may be able to refresh your breath, but only Testamints can refresh your Spirit too. With their telling slogan, “Pass the Word”, Testamint wrappers contain Bible verses such as John 3:16 or Jeremiah 29:11. We all know that bad breath is often a result of an equally bad spiritual life…

Now it’s up to you. Use the “comments” section to vote for the Sacred or the Secular. Testamints or Mentos. It’s up to you.

Rocky vs. Carman

I recently saw the latest “Rocky” installment, “Rocky Balboa”. I was very impressed with Sylvester Stallone’s ability to bring the Rocky character back to the big screen in a respectble manner. In the movie, Rocky Balboa’s return to the ring is based on a computer generated fight which concludes that in his prime, Rocky could beat the current heavy weight champion. This concept got me thinking. What would happen if Rocky Balboa were to to face another champion? Carman: The Champion. That’s right. You decide. Cast your vote for either Rocky Balboa or Carman by commenting on this post. Please be sure to include why you believe your pick would dominate.
