Joe’s Goals

Just ran across Joe’s Goals…It’s an online “habit tracker” that’s really cool. It allows you to add daily goals and then check them off once they’re completed. It even sends you an e-mail reminder if you forget to update your goal portfolio. Some things from my goal list:

  • Get enough sleep
  • Eat Healthy
  • Exercise
  • Do Devotion

iTunes

Yesterday I was actually going to buy a CD. I know what you’re thinking, but something just came over me. Anyway, I’ve heard great things about the new Delirious? Cd, Now Is The Time: Live at Willowcreek. So I go to our local Family Christian Store to pick up a copy. When I get there I find out that not only do they not have it, but they’ve never heard of it, and they can’t order it. I mean, as far as Christian music goes, Delirious? has some serious cred…They opened for U2 in Europe for cryin’ out loud! So I get the number of another local Christian bookstore…Guess what? Never heard of it, can’t order it. So I come home empty handed. Then I jump on my computer, pull up iTunes, and I have the album like ten seconds later…

Aug 11

The 11th is always a big day of the month for me, because it seems that many-a-mile markers in my life fall on the 11th. Here are three anniversaries that fall on August 11th:

  1. Our engagement - 1 year ago today I asked Kristin Laurel Dunning to marry me. Today we’ve been happily married for five months. I can’t believe it’s been a year. It seems like yesterday we were planning our wedding…
  2. The Blog - 1 year ago today I started the blog.  Our engagement, marriage, and my graduation all fall within about 18 months. I knew that all of those events would bring a lot of growth, and change. I wanted a medium to tell the stories that come with major life changes…I hope you’ve enjoyed reading about the last twelve months of my life as much as I enjoyed living it…I’ll keep living. You keep reading.
  3. Our wedding - Five months ago today Kristin and I were married in Orange Park, FL. It was a perfect day. I can’t believe it’s already been five months!

Trutech = Terrible

Kristin and I love movies. Going to the movies, renting movies, talking about movies, anything “movies” really. So, naturally we decided to purchase a DVD player not long after we were married. We tried to make the eeconomical choice and get a cheap DVD player. So we went to Target and spent a whopping $25.95 on the latest in TruTech technology. I should have known that we had made a bad decision when I picked up the box and literally thought that it was just an empty display box (because it was so light). So we get up to the register and the cashier says to me, “Would you like to purchase the Target Tech Guarantee?” “What’s the Target Tech Guarantee?” I say. “It’s a one-time payment of $29.95 that guarantees if anything goes wrong with something from our technology department, we’ll replace it with the same model for free.” I then politely remind the cashier that, “The DVD player only costs $25.95, so I could replace it with the same one for $4.00 less than the warranty by just buying a whole new DVD player.” He concedes and quietly bags my latest investment.

So, we get home and borrow a burned (copied) DVD from a friend. The DVD player skips constantly to the point where we have to stop the movie altogether. Kristin and I determine that the machine is just a bit fussy and that it doesn’t read copied discs all that well. Until a few nights later when we pop in a newly purchased DVD and it does the same thing. Then, we decide to try the season 1 disc of “The Office”. This time, the DVD player says, “Loading”…..”Loading”…..”Loading”…..and then shuts off.

ipod

My groomsmen got me a new 30 gig iPod!!! I’m pretty stoked. I haven’t had an iPod since the wheel on mine broke several months ago. The new iPod was completely unexpected and greatly appreciated…It has been really good to spend time with my friends and family. Thanks to everyone who has already made this weekend to remember.

New Cell

So I finally got a new cell phone. I have been with Cinuglar for about a year and a half now. I switched when Kristin and I started dating, because of the free mobile to mobile. Cingular’s phone service as well as customer service has been exceptional. However, I had an LG phone that started giving me serious trouble about a month ago. It was absolutely terrible and extremely frustrating. Today I got my new Motorola L2 in the mail. The L2 is the model just under the sliver. The only difference between the two phones is that the L2 does not have iTunes - a feature that friends have informed me is actually very annoying. The L2 is extremely clear, and compact. I’m really pleased with the switch.
